This was my first multisport event of the season : RUN – BIKE - RUN. Not having a swim generally not as lucrative for my placement but I try to remember embracing the suck will only make you better…at least that is what I tell myself.
The first 2 mile run takes you through and past the cheering squads and into a pristine neighborhood behind the hospital. It is a bit hilly – another thing I don’t embrace but suck it up Mindi. Plan was to be consistent, that I did, with both miles a 7:45 pace – which is good for me.
The second run – another 2 miles along the same course. The cheering squads were much louder – I suspect “liquid courage” helped out. AND, the hills were much steeper this go. Same plan, stay consistent. Sadly, a slightly slower pace – 8:00 minute miles but I felt good.
The good thing – my overall race time was about 30 seconds FASTER than last years race – so I will take that as a WIN. No money for me, 4th female. But very happy to say team mate Cicely Wallis was overall female and left with $500 payday.
The after party is fun – a bunch of food trucks with some tasty treats, adult beverages, music and lots of camaraderie. The Mobile Infirmary is a small well organized event with lots of support from the employees and community. I highly recommend putting this race on your radar for future years.
