The Maritime De Luna Youth Duathlon is the premiere youth Duathlon on the Gulf Coast. This race is run solely by volunteers from the Race Directors to over 80 local volunteers that are lining the course to assure safety and of course lots of cheering for the athletes.
In line with our "chain" motto to be "connected to the multisport and community" our team members, Mary, Sue, Candice, Mindi, and Cicely came out in force to make the event fabulous for athletes and the families. I think if you ask anyone of them they will say it was a great experience and they will be back next year!

This year over 180 youth athletes toed the start line to RUN-BIKE-RUN along the Pensacola bayfront. Lots of excitement in the early morning hours as athletes start to arrive to the race venue.
No better way to get a true race perspective than from one of the athletes. Our very own, Gemma Wallis, daughter of team member Cicely Wallis completed her first multisport event with a smile the entire way! We would do a disservice to re-write Gemma's thoughts so read what inspired her to complete her first duathlon. Probably one of the best race reports we have posted :-)

Our team mission and charity is to continue to support the Gulf Coast Tri Initiative. This program continues to provide bikes, helmets, race entries and USAT membership to underprivaleged youth so they can compete in multisport events. At this years duathlon we had both Oakcrest Elementary and Sims Middle School bring over 25 athletes to compete in the race. We are always very proud of these athletes and will continue to support their multisport endeavors. This year Oakcrest Elementary won 3rd place in the school team award.
It was a great day for all - the athletes, the volunteers and the schools (Oakcrest Elementary and Sims Middle School) that benefit from the Gulf Coast Tri Initiative . We as a team are multisport connected...one CHAIN link at a time!
